Auditions for Annie Jr

The Summer Children’s Play this year is the much loved Annie Jr. directed by Bob Hollis. Roles are available for children and youth ages 6-16.

Each person will share a cold read from the script based on their preferred character.

Please note the following audition requirements for various roles:

  • Annie: prepare the first verse and chorus from the songs “Tomorrow” and “Maybe”.
  • Warbucks: prepare the first verse and chorus from the song “I Don’t Need Anything But You” (note: changed to this on 5/8).
  • Grace: prepare the first verse and chorus from the song “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here”.
  • Hannigan: prepare the first verse and chorus from the song “Little Girls”.
  • Rooster or Lily: prepare the first verse and chorus from the song “Easy Street”.
  • Any Younger Character: prepare the first verse and chorus from “It’s A Hard Knock Life”.
  • Any Older Character: prepare the first verse and chorus from “You Won’t Be An Orphan”.

Please prepare the songs in their original key!

Auditions will be May 30 (5-8pm) and May 31 (9-3pm), 2014 at the Eddy Building (6 South Killingly Road, Foster, RI) (Google Maps Link). Note: Anyone who is going on the 8th grade trip from Ponaganset can audition on Monday, June 2 at 6 pm at the Eddy Building

Note: The directing team invites all children auditioning for Annie to audition for A Christmas Story whose rehearsals start in September.

ORPHAN MOLLY – Either gender – Played as under 6 – good vocally, strong musically – young and afraid.
ORPHAN PEPPER – Either gender – Played as 9-12 – strong vocally, good musically – Bossy.
ORPHAN DUFFY – Either gender – Played as 6-12 – good vocally, good musically – Grumpy.
ORPHAN KATE – Either gender – Played 9-12 – good vocally, good musically – Older.
ORPHAN TESSIE – Either gender – Played 6-9 – good vocally, good musically – Worrier.
ORPHAN JULY – Either gender –Played 9-12 – strong vocally, good musically –street tough but kind.

MISS HANNIGAN – Female – Played as 40-70 – good vocally, strong musically – burned out, resentful, bitter, angry and mean yet wanting a husband to take her away.
ROOSTER HANNIGAN – Male – Played as 20-35 – good vocally, strong musically –flashy and smooth – a pure salesman, wants to be rich.
LILY ST. REGIS – Female – Played 20-30 – good vocally, strong musically – airhead, physically preoccupied, loves money.
