“I believe that in a great city, or even in a small city or a village, a great theater is the outward and visible sign of an inward and probable culture.”
— Sir Laurence Olivier
Swamp Meadow Community Theatre was established in the Fall of 2002 in Foster, RI and grew from the inspiration of then-15 year old Amy Hollis, daughter of our founder Bob Hollis. With the support fosteringArts.org, the participation of many talented volunteers, and the overwhelming reception of the Greater Foster Community, Swamp Meadow Community Theatre premiered it’s first show, Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella!
As a Non-Profit Theatre, our goal is to draw together many talented and wonderful people of all backgrounds and abilities to produce quality, community-celebratory entertainment! If you have an interest, then you are a part of SMCT! We have a place for you as we strive to bring the Community back to the Theatre!
We are currently housed in the historic Assembly Theatre (26 East Ave, Harrisville, RI) having partnered with the Patrons of The Assembly, through support of the town of Burriville. With this new partnership, we look forward to continued growth while still striving in creating a better community!
Our Board meets monthly in an attempt to produce two Main-Stage shows and a summer youth show each year along with workshops and one-day events.
You can contact us (or join us) at director@swampmeadow.org or by calling the Box Office at 1-888-493-7110.
After 20 years, we are extremely proud of how far we have come, extremely grateful for all the support we have received, and extremely excited about the future!
