Summer 2024

This production opens on July 17, 2024 and closes on July 21, 2024.

Swamp Meadow Community Theatre proudly presents The Odyssey, A New Adaptation for our Summer Children’s Theatre!

Written by Rhode Island playwright Audrey Dubois, we are excited to go on this EPIC adventure!

An age-old story gets retold as a brand-new one-act for SMCT Summer Children’s Theatre!

Odysseus has been away at sea for a long time. A REALLY long time. Twenty years, in fact. And he would do anything to get back to his family. Along the way, he crosses paths with a cyclops that herds sheep, a princess who doesn’t like laundry, a witch who turns people into pigs, and a VERY angry sea god. With so many obstacles between here and there, how will Odysseus ever manage to get home?

Auditions

Auditions are open to ages 6-18. Auditions will be held at the Scituate Senior Center (1315 Chopmist Hill Road) on Sunday, April 21 at 2-5pm. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the script. No memorization required.

If you are unable to make that audition date but would like to be a part of the show, please contact mentor director Merynn Flynn at merynn.flynn@gmail.com to arrange a video audition.

The first read-through will take place on Friday, April 26 from 6-8pm. Regular rehearsals will begin on May 5 and will be on Sunday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8:30, then switching to Tuesday and Thursday evenings in June until tech week. Rehearsal locations TBD.

Tech week is July 13-16, and the show plays July 17-21. Tech rehearsals and show dates are mandatory for all performers.
