Get Merry: An Engaging Medieval Winter Solstice Revel is an original play written by Liz Goulet Dubois and Bob Hollis. Originally staged in 2010, with a successful sequel in 2011, we’re finally bringing the Royal Fool Caps out again for a revival!
The story follows Prince Melvin, who has fallen in love with the Royal Hairdresser, Merry. The Queen, less than thrilled with his choice of bride, employs one of the Royal Fools to foil the engagement. Along the way, they meet singers, dancers, and many other talents (and “talents”) to contribute to the Royal Engagement Party. Will the Queen get her way? Or will Melvin get Merry in the end?
Get Merry is half-variety show, half-medieval sitcom. We want to showcase local singers, musicians, dancers, and other performing artists during our show… along with some hilarious not-so-great “acts” like candlemaking and failing to juggle.
Get Merry 2023 will be a revival of the original productions. If you were involved in the 2010/2011 shows, we would love to have you back onstage, whether to reprise your role or take on a new part.
Due to the nature of the show, new roles will be written to accommodate local talent. And of course, the Kingdom always needs more town criers, peasants, courtiers, butchers, bakers, mimes, and Ye Royal Backstage Crewe!
If you would like to be involved in any way, please contact Audrey at audrey@studiodubois.com with “Get Merry” in the subject line. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the world of Get Merry!
