SMCT Statement on Non-Discrimination

There has been an open call in our Rhode Island theater community to make a statement against racism. Our organization has always, in our mission statement and actions, striven to be inclusive. We have not nor will not tolerate any form of discrimination.

COVID-19 Update 3

Hello Swamp Meadow Community!

I have an update that should come as no surprise to anyone, but is disappointing nonetheless. We are cancelling the Summer Children’s Theater production of Schoolhouse Rock. We are also cancelling the Unplugged Production of Trail to Oregon. As of now, we are hoping that our fall slate will remain unchanged, our USO show, back again by popular demand, and our holiday production of Into the Woods (which is rehearsing using Zoom!)

In other news, while we are all homebound we are looking for ways to keep theater going. We are working on a number of projects involving Zoom and will have details on what we’re cooking up soon. But we would like to reach out to you, our community, for your ideas! Do you have a creative way we can do something online (Zoom-based or something else?) Do you have an idea for something fun (and rights-free) we can do? Please let us know! Drop an email to email hidden; JavaScript is required and let Liz Dubois know!

We hope everyone is safe and healthy and we look forward to getting back out on the stage to entertain all of you. Until then, be well and keep in touch!
